Wpromote employees have been working hard and giving back to the community throughout the month of August. Wpromote’s philanthropy group, Wprovide, organized two events that supported underprivileged children throughout the South Bay and Greater Los Angeles regions.
The month kicked off with “Rock & Reunite”, a fundraiser that over 60 employees and friends participated in to raise money for the development of a visitation center for children in foster care. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, there are nearly 900 children currently in the South Bay region of Los Angeles that reside in foster homes due to neglect and/or abuse. Visitation centers allow state supervisors to properly assess whether children can safely return to their primary caregivers based on the demonstration of appropriate behavior by the parents involved.
Rock & Brews Restaurant in El Segundo hosted the fundraiser and donated 15% of one night’s food and beverage sales to the cause. Wpromote’s event raised $500 to help build and furnish the LA County Department of Children and Family Services Visitation Center.
Our civic engagement did not end there…
Wpromote employees also participated in Olive Crest’s backpack drive that provided children with new backpacks filled with brand new school supplies. We sponsored four students and provided them with new backpacks that had new binders, pencils and $25 Kohl’s department store gift cards in them. Olive Crest is a local organization that provides housing, professional treatment and education to underprivileged and abused children throughout California.
Wprovide’s goal is to contribute to at least one charity each month through fundraisers, drives and service in the community. Feel free to tell us about the charity organizations that you are passionate about in the comments below. We are always looking for new ways to give back to the community!
